Yahoo has been putting up many billboard ads in prime locations in Mumbai. Is it an attempt at stemming the tide of people opting for Google’s Gmail?

India is a rich market to proliferate internet usage due to following reasons

– English speaking population
– leading mobile phone usage

Web access via mobiles is already picking up. Indians large numbers of whom already have mobile phone access, will jump to internet usage via mobiles. Is this ad campaign a start of some big Yahoo campaign to increase its market share in India?

Or is it launching some new service?
